pikey123 Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Hello,Hope you can help !I have a local network, one Vista pc, one XP and one Fedora. I can ping each machine from each other, using IP addresses and named hosts using hosts file. The problem is: I have an Apache web server running on the Vista machine, but I cant see it from the other two machines. I also have an apache server runnning on the XP machine, which I cant see from the other two. I have turned off all the firewalls to see if it is a firewall issue, this did not resolve the problem. None of the requests hit the server as nothing appears in the access logs or is returned to the browser. I've been going nuts trying to work it out!Any clue anyone? please! . All suggestions welcomeMany thanks
Kotuku Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Can you see the PUBLIC Folder on the Vista machine from the XP one? You need to turn on the Public folder sharing under the Vista Network & Sharing Center as well as making sure Network Discovery is ticked as on.If you can then see the Public Folder, can you set the Apache Server to run from within there? Sorry I am not familiar with the Server part of things.XP and Vista have different Workgroup names, it helps to have them both the same. There is a neat little program for Vista to 'Take Ownership' of any file or folder, I am not sure if that will help, but here it is for downloadhttp://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vis...-menu-in-vista/
