3rd party ICS/Router replacement for XP?

I currently use Windows ICS to connect my second PC to the internet.

However, ICS is highly unstable. Whenever I start transferring files between the two computers, problems start to happen. Network connection between the two drops, ICS stops working and I'm forced to reboot the router computer [the one that has the internet connection].

I don't want to connect both computers to a router instead of using ICS because I do a lot of file transfer between the two computers. They are connected through Firewire LAN, so there's quite enough bandwidth. Using a router/hub would throttle me down to 100mbps.

Since google search always gives me the typical Windows ICS, I'm wondering if you guys have any knowledge of 3rd party softwares that could handle the ICS.
