Hi,

Try to install the updates from the Windows Update Site. If sucess, you must be missing any components of which, I do not have much idea. However, if you are not able to install from the website as well, chances are that your computer is carrying Conficker.

In the latter case, you can visit http://support.microsoft.com/kb/962007 to get more info on the virus, its prevention, and removal using the MSRT tool. These days I have done the same on many of my clients' computers to get the windows update and many other important services running back.

Please let me know if this helped you.
