Guitar interface software

Hi

I recently bought guitar interface software online from a company called Waves. It's called GTR3.5 and it's supposed to enable me to play my electric guitar through my pc and in doing so, use different effects and amp sounds. Unfortunately however, I've been unable to use it at all because the software doesn't 'see' my sound card. I try going into File then Preferences but still don't get an option that works with my guitar. I've spent £200 on this and unfortunately, because it's considered a problem with my pc, Waves support are unable to help. I'd be grateful for any help!
