DreamSkape Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Hi All,I use Winpatrol to check for unwanted changes. It popped out a message some time back saying that Quicktime has been added and wants to run at startup. Though it was showing the normal logo of Quicktime, there was no mention of Apple. As far as I know, I never installed Quicktime on my laptop. Even if it is installed, it should show in the Control Panel if I am right. It does not show up in Menu, control panel, and neither in the My Programs Folder. Now I suspect something wrong. How can I find that program and remove it from the system. Also, I found the following in the My Programs folder that contain folders of files called Microsoft or DLLs. I want to make sure that they are genuine and not any kind of malware:1. C:\MSECache contains a subfolder O2007Cnv that again contains a subfolder 1033 which has a file O12Conv.msi.2. C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\Windows Workflow Foundation... contains 2 subfolders v3.0 and v3.5 both with some TARGET files.3. C:\Program Files\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework .. again with the above v3.0 and v3.5 folders. These folders have some DLLs.. example.. System.Web.Abstractions.dll4. C:\Program Files\Windows Media Connect 2... contains wmccds.exe, WMCCFG.exe apart from xml and graphic files.I am confused as I never noticed these in my entire life with computers. Please inform me if these folders are genuine and required. Also, how to trace that file of quicktime (I used the Search Feature with no results) and get rid of it.Thanking you,--Regards,Arun Kumar M.Signed: Saturday, May 09, 2009, 5:21:19 PM IST
