mullardel34 Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 (edited) It was fortunate that I had an image of a fresh, Microsoft, fully updated, all languages, win98se operating system from my P3 system on my hard drive. I used the ENUM trick on my P3 system, made a new ENUM'd image, and transferred the OS to my new P4 system. The transferred OS ran very fast, but there was a problem. I had to repair Network Adapters in Device Manager thru Add/Remove programs Windows Setup, so that internet connections could be made. (I removed everything in the appropriate category, and re-installed the adapters). A Microsoft updated win98 OS gave me a benchmark to compare with, and I found that the Autopatch version is slow when compared with the ENUM transferred OS. This shouldn't be. And it's slow, even before all of my set of applications are installed. I've eliminated all of the trash, but the unofficials remain. So the problem must be from the unofficial updates. What else could it be ? I need speed, but I can't keep the unofficials from installing. I've gone thru everything, typed <U> and set each one, but no luck. The unofficials install anyway. Long ago, I eliminated certain programs from my set of applications for win98, because they slowed the OS down. Speed only happens with a clean OS and good applications. I also wish that I could install ALL of the languages with Autopatcher. I have them somewhere, every last one of them.Thank you so much for the work you have done with Autopatcher98. ... I hope you will soon provide a better update with none of the "extras". Or have I missed something ? (I'm using last year's download of Autopatcher98). Edited April 26, 2009 by mullardel34
