What am I missing?

OK, I am assuming you installed it correctly and with the Default installation? Did you then register it on line with MS?

You will have a MICROSOFT OFFICE folder under /PROGRAM FILESx86 and there should be a folder in there for OFFICE12. Within that folder are the executables EXCEL.EXE, WINWORD.EXE etc. Double click either of those and see if the program opens.

It seems your installation if you did it right, has not registered each program.

I see you have done 1 post, so maybe you are very new?? Excuse me if you are not, but I am assuming that after downloading the free trial, you did double mouse click and run and install it??

Thanks for responding. You are totally correct when saying I am VERY new.

I am able to use the spread sheet and also MSword.

I'm assuming I didi the double click to install because I'm able to create my own spread sheet and word doc.

I have many e-mail attachments that I am un able to open. When I click on to RUN or SAVE, the box "blinks" then goes away. Leaving me with nothing to read.

Do I un-install the trial?

You may have Office WORKS installed as a Freebie from when you bought the computer and that is what is letting you open things.

If you click the Windows Orb (down bottom left corner) and then click ALL PROGRAMS, do you see MICROSOFT OFFICE as an installation?

Yopur not being able to open attachments in your E-Mail program is an entirely different problem (I suspect) and is to do with the defualt security settings.

Are you using OUTLOOK or WINDOWS MAIL as your E-Mail program? I suspect Windows Mail, in which case, open it and click TOOLS at the top and then OPTIONS and then the SECURITY Tab and take OUT the tick in "Don't allow attachments to be saved/opened.." and then click APPLY at the bottom and OK out.

You can then try and open an attachment.

Of course the CORRECT way to see an attachment is to first save it to your Hard Drive in a folder you can find and then open it from there! But we all get lazy and open them in the Mail program!

Good Luck
