WMP no longer displaying video

I ran Yamicsoft's registry cleaner yesterday on my Vista 64 machine and since then, when I try to either play a video from my HDD or watch a video on a webpage, I can only hear audio.

I restored the registry but the problem persisted. After that, I deleted my codec pack and reinstalled it (v 5.12 vista codec package and x64 v1.68) but the problem still persisted. I opened WMP11 and told it to re enabled 64 bit as default, just in case that had gone wonky, but still no fix. I deleted otehr media players like VideoLAN and Ifranview but still no fix.

I then re-installed VideoLAN. Bit of a weird anomaly occurred. When I boot up my machine, I cannot play videos or view them on a webpage initially. However, if I start VideoLAN and run a video clip, then I can view videos on WMP and in web pages.

Any clues on how to resolve this?
