Callina Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 All of a sudden, this morning I started getting this type of message whenever I try to click on a link or open a new tab:"C:\PROGRA~2/Java\jreg6\bin\ssvagent.exeOverlapped I/O operation is in progress."Since I am not a computer specialist, but only a regular user, I am asking for a little bit of help on the part of those who know what this message is about and what I should do to get things fixed. My operating system is Vista Home Premium 64, Service Pack 1, and the Internet browser is Windows Internet Explorer 7. Thank you.
cluberti Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 That's the main engine for the Java Runtime. If you uninstall java from the programs applet in control panel, you should be able to get rid of that. If you need java, a reinstall should work of the latest runtime (which I believe is 1.6 R11).
Kotuku Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 (edited) http://www.itpro.co.uk/blogs/maryb/2008/08...ing-the-monkey/This happened before with Java mid last year. Uninstall Java and reinstall lates version (all free)AND change to Firefox as your browser and dump IEAlso run Secunia, a free online check. It will tell you if you have older version(s) of Java installed and point to where this can be fixedhttp://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/online/The above link is an online scan. As you are a newbie, you may like to consider installing the PSI that will monitor these problems directly on your computer. It is the second Tab near the top on the secunia page. Download and install it.Kotuku Edited February 2, 2009 by Kotuku
