Works to Word file Converters

Hi Guys and Happy Christmas,

New to the forum and can't find an answer to my problem anywhere. I've tried other forums and googled my problem... I must be the only one with this problem!

I have MS Works 8.5 upgraded from v8 and want to convert some word processing files to Word format for others to read them when sent in an email. When I 'Save As', the file converters drop down list appear to be corrupted except for rtf. and wps. The list is garbled. On attempting to 'save as' to one of these encounters an error message and Works has to close.

I installed the Office Converters package from MS which didn't make any difference. This is the first time I've wanted to convert into Word since upgrading to 8.5. Any ideas why this is happening?
