getting comand promt on an Optima computer

Can anyone help?I'm trying to get an Optima computer to boot to commandpromt to run chkdsk.Have tried all "F"keys without success.What can I try.Will not go to prompt in safe mode.

Hmm, This is interesting.

The F-key is F8 by the way, But you do get some kind of error?

What happens?

Please provide more details bud, its easier for us to diagnose the problems.

Thanks. The machine goes to safe mode start screen then Win screen for about 3 seconds then re-boots.It was caused by power failure .Also I tried the Windows repair disc,and got message that it needed to format the hard drive.

I've tried from F1 to F12 but cannot get to command prompt.

Hmm.. What do you get when you just boot up the computer with out trying to get into safe mode?

Same thing,gets to win screen and re-boots.

What i'me after is to run chkdsk to see if it sorts it out.

hmmm.. chkdsk doesnt really do that much.

Sounds like there is something wrong with your OS

i'm sure it is fixable, but sometimes, you get to the point of no return.

In the end it has let me re-install Windows,It's a bit messy but it works.
