Hauppaugge WIN-TV HVR 4000

I have a Hauppaugge TV tuner installed with vista 32 bit Ultimate. The tuner used to work fine but now has ceased to do so. When I run Media Centre and select 'setup TV', media centre reports that there is no tuner installed (& offers to sell me one!!), this, despite the fact that Device Manager shows that the tuner driver is operating OK. I have contacted Hauppaugge and re-loaded the application several times in accordance with their instructions but to no avail. Any advice would be gratefully accepted.
