Do I need the OEM Preinstallation Kit (OPK)

Hi,

I’m building my first 64-bit machine. I purchased XP Professional x64 OEM system software. On the outside label it states that I need the OEM Preinstallation Kit (OPK) The kit is NOT available by download and must be purchased from a Authorized Microsoft OEM Distributors such as Ingram Micro. I’m not a reseller and I don’t buy from the listed distributors. Do I need the kit? Can the software be installed without the kit? I would appreciate any help or advice.
