saving forum password with Firefox

On the main forum page there is a login box however Firefox will not autofill those boxes.

On the normal login page though, Firefox has no problem:

Is there something so different about the first login box?

hi! i am not sure if this answers your question but which firefox ver are you using? if it's 3.0.2 then try getting 3.0.3 as this issue of not being able to save and fetch passwords has already been fixed ... from the release notes:

Fixed a problem where users were unable to retrieve saved passwords or save new passwords (bug 454708)
