Windows Desktop Search - Pre-define search scope?

I am deploying Windows Desktop Search 3.01 (or possibly V4) in a corporate environment on Windows XP. I want to modify the search scope to 'My Computer' for all users. I do not want to use AD policy for this. Does anyone know how to do this via the registry or modifying files? I ask after fruitless search both here, M$ and the rest of the Net.
