I use to use winpopup a long while back and was trying to figure out its equal in windows xp.

I know I should just install something like pidgin and use that to message with but

I just wanted to get winchat working for nastolgia. I found this

"The other computer did not respond"

When I am certain that Network DDE is started on both ends.

I also made sure the firewall was off at both ends.

What am I missing?

Winpopup worked by default on windows 98. I configure the hell out of xp and I still cant get it to work this sounds like a major regression.
