Deploysrs
I have a Windows 2003 domain controller at the Office. I have Business end Cable for internet With very good Badwidth 25000kbps for download and 2kbps on the upload. My Web developer and other employees are having a problem at this site called pointroll where we create our banners for web sites. When they do a rollover on a banner its should trigger that banner to display instantly. But when they try to display that banner in house at the office it doesn't trigger that banner but if we go home and try it it works fine. I did do a tracert on www.pointroll.com and it looks like it takes a little more time then nornal to get to pointroll. Here is the tracert that I get, take a look. Is there anyway that I can add point roll or rackspace to my DNS or something like that to have my Domain controller resolve them directly to help limit the hop time????? And if so what are the steps to getting that done.C:\>tracert www.pointroll.comTracing route to www.pointroll.com [72.32.153.180]over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 50 ms 14 ms 16 ms 192.168.1.1 2 64 ms 57 ms 68 ms ge-2-2-ur02.hillsboro.nj.panjde.comcast.net [68.86.219.169] 3 78 ms 84 ms 119 ms 68.85.192.230 4 16 ms 16 ms 9 ms po-10-ur02.longhill.nj.panjde.comcast.net [68.85.192.234] 5 17 ms 15 ms 22 ms pos-0-4-0-0-crs01.plainfield.nj.panjde.comcast.net [68.86.90.26] 6 34 ms 27 ms 26 ms pos-0-3-0-0-cr01.newyork.ny.ibone.comcast.net [68.86.90.25] 7 49 ms 59 ms 61 ms xe-10-2-0.edge1.newyork2.level3.net [4.78.169.49] 8 13 ms 16 ms 12 ms ae-33-89.car3.newyork1.level3.net [4.68.16.133] 9 24 ms 15 ms 12 ms att-level3-oc192.newyork1.level3.net [4.68.127.150] 10 65 ms 99 ms 74 ms tbr1.n54ny.ip.att.net [12.123.3.106] 11 111 ms 128 ms 148 ms cr2.n54ny.ip.att.net [12.122.16.141] 12 75 ms 58 ms 55 ms cr2.wswdc.ip.att.net [12.122.3.38] 13 94 ms 91 ms 80 ms cr1.attga.ip.att.net [12.122.1.173] 14 62 ms 58 ms 61 ms cr2.dlstx.ip.att.net [12.122.28.174] 15 68 ms 65 ms 63 ms tbr2.dlstx.ip.att.net [12.122.18.198] 16 85 ms 116 ms 99 ms 12.122.100.97 17 75 ms 79 ms 104 ms 12.87.41.178 18 95 ms 202 ms 214 ms vlan901.core1.dfw1.rackspace.com [72.3.128.21] 19 128 ms 157 ms 141 ms aggr123a.dfw1.rackspace.net [72.3.129.141] 20 159 ms 134 ms 147 ms 72.32.153.180Trace complete.Thanks..... fizban2
you may want to talk to you ISP and see why you require so many hops to get to the location, from my home it was only 15 hops and a max of 40 ms on any one leg of the journey. though even from the times you are showing above there should not be any lag on page displays
Deploysrs
Thanks, fizban2I called of course Comcast and they said that there was nothing they could do to help cut down on the hops to get to that location. So it looks like I am stuck with the amount of hops it takes from comcast over to pointroll.com. I tought maybe I could add someting to my DNS on my domain controller to help give me a better direct hop. But I guess after it goes to comcast it really gets out of my hands to controll. Thanks for your help and if you have any other idea please let me know.Thx,Deploysrs
stevethemusicman
I try not to use Comcast's DNS. I use a free DNS (don't have the name with me) and find that it is a lot quicker than Comcasts. If you need the name write to me and I'll send you the URL.SteveThanks, fizban2I called of course Comcast and they said that there was nothing they could do to help cut down on the hops to get to that location.
