HotFix question

I'm getting ready to try and figure out which hotfixes I need (per the unattended guide).. did have one question though.

Since I'm already running sp3 on my machine. I was wondering If I do an install on a virtual machine.. if it would see all the updates (post sp3) that I need or if it would also show the one on my physical machine (like it does for drivers)...

I realize this isn't worded well but its difficult to explain. Hope someone understands it anyway

The VM is isolated from the host and hence, it won't be interfered by the hosts installed updates...
