ust Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 hi guys... i've been using vista for a while now but never encounter this problem until the recent SP1i used a modified Vista SP1 using vlite, i removed the non-core items such as printer, etcthe problem with it is that, my CPU load is 100% whenever i use FlashGet, which means i can't do anything elsealso, it caused my download speed to be significantly lower than usual (usual = 3-4MBps, now = 1MBps)and my windows explorer crashed all the timei've tried to re-install with other version of modified vista, but the problem seems to remainanyone has the similar problem, or might now what's happening with my machine? thanks.
cluberti Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Well, not without some data on the CPU time. Perhaps you could look at the process with Process Explorer and see what is using the CPU time in that process?
ust Posted April 21, 2008 Author Posted April 21, 2008 well i did check, most of the time it's flashget who's jamming the system...
cluberti Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Does it happen on a non-modified Vista install? If it does not, you probably want to ask this in the vlite forums.
ust Posted April 22, 2008 Author Posted April 22, 2008 not sure, but i plan to do a re-installation in the next few dayswill post what's the latest development on this issuethanks anyway
ust Posted May 7, 2008 Author Posted May 7, 2008 OK, i tried re-installation using different combination- vLited SP1- vLited non-SP1- normal SP1- normal non-SP1the conclusion is that, the excessive CPU load only happened when i have SP1 installed! and the program that caused this is definitely FlashGet!I don't know how to analyze what went wrong. Any suggestions?Regards,SW
cluberti Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Well, you could take a set of adplus hang dumps of the flashget process while the CPU load is occurring, perhaps one every 30 - 45 seconds (take at least 3) and we can look at the stacks consuming CPU and maybe, maybe learn more.
ust Posted May 7, 2008 Author Posted May 7, 2008 thanks mate... too bad now i'm running the non-sp1 trouble free versionwill see if i have time to do the dump this weekend...
