Hi,

i have a few computers in my LAN. currently i'm facing a two problem with windows XP

1. a few computer take time too long while computer RESTART/REBOOT. it always "stop a while" on "Windows is shutting down..."

2. I have a CD-ROM drive on PC #1 that i already share and access from PC #2 using Windows for Workgroups. PC #2 can see and access shared hard disks on PC #1. but today all my network cannot access to cd-rom drive on PC #1.

try some of these reg tweaks to speed up shutdown/restart

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
"WaitToKillAppTimeout"="3000"
[HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop]
"WaitToKillAppTimeout"="3000"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
"AutoEndTasks"="1"
[HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop]
"AutoEndTasks"="1"

this ends processes running in your background faster letting you shutdown faster...

not 100% positive this will do the trick but worth a try.

no idea about the drive problem :wacko:

Thanks for the reply.

for problem no. 2.

from Event Viewer, there is one error comeout which is EventID : 2000. I have google the eventid, so the result is :

 c0000013 (STATUS_NO_MEDIA_IN_DEVICE) and 04e80bb9: The error occurs when the server tries to access a shared resource (for example, a CD-ROM or floppy disk) which has no media (that is, no disk) in the drive.

But, from this computer i can play the CD!. :wacko::no:
