johjoh682 Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 My Microsoft Office 2003 is very slow (+30 seconds) when browsing for a file to attach to outlook email ... or when trying to open any plain word document ... any other applikations doesn't have this issue when opening files on my laptop ... including OpenOffice.org which is very fast .... i think it must be a feautre or setting in the MS office about dns servers or something ... anybody can give me a clue? /Johan
cluberti Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Well, when opening an Office document, consider running Process Monitor from sysinternals and see what exactly your box is doing during this time. That's definitely not normal behavior.
johjoh682 Posted March 4, 2008 Author Posted March 4, 2008 Ok, to be more specific it is when browsing with the explorer inside an office applikation that takes time.... everytime I doubleclick a folder to open it it goes many many seconds ...it feels like it is hanging for a while.... but when the office applikation got hold of the file it goes fast again ....opening the document itself takes 1-2 seconds...... it is the browsing for files inside the office that is my problem .... I'll download the system from sysinternals.... thanks/Johan
paulcareers Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I'm having the exact same problem. It started just a few days ago.Any suggestions on how to fix this? Is it due to a recent update from Microsoft? It's very annoying.Thanks.
johjoh682 Posted March 30, 2008 Author Posted March 30, 2008 (edited) I have solved this issue that did affect me.... in my laptop it was shared harddrives that wasn't accessable but still was maped in the Windows Explorer ....unmapp these solved my slow opening of files in Ms Office 2003 for me/Johan Edited March 31, 2008 by puntoMX
