disable drive scanning but keep autorun enabled?

Featured Replies

first, i know there is a way to disable autorun/autoplay through the registry/TweakUI.

however, what i want is to keep autorun but disable the functionality that tries to identify what type of media you have inserted and gives you that annoying "actions" menu.

i dont want my entire 500gb drive traversed just because i put it in, but i do want to use autorun.inf if it exists on that drive (eg to pull up a portable program menu). i havent found anywhere that describes if this is possible or how it can be done. is this an auto run "package deal". i sincerely hope not.

thanks,

Leon

Well since no one has answered I think for windows native functions, it's a package deal...if it's one type of drive. You would have to look for a third party solution.
