Folks,

I am looking for suggestions.

I have a Win XP Pro system with SP2. At the end of January on startup I started getting reports of problems from the prior login session as Data Execution Prevention reports of the Generic Host Process for Win32 with the details being

EventType : BEX P1 : svchost.exe P2 : 5.1.2600.2180 P3 : 41107ed6

P4 : unknown P5 : 0.0.0.0 P6 : 00000000 P7 : 009a9eec

P8 : c0000005 P9 : 00000008

I searched with Google and in forums for info and never found a clear path toward solving the issue.

If I snag the appcompat.txt, it looks like the following except I truncated the list of 9 DLL lines after their size info:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16"?>

<DATABASE>

<EXE NAME="SYSTEM INFO" FILTER="GRABMI_FILTER_SYSTEM">

<MATCHING_FILE NAME="advapi32.dll" SIZE="616960"

</EXE>

</DATABASE>
