Have you tried installing a non-custom version of XP? If you're using nLite to strip out components from XP, then that's likely the cause of your problems, and you should be asking your questions in the nLite forum.

i havent gotten around to installing a "vanilla" version of XP, although the version of XP i am using doesnt have anything removed from it, its just tweaked.
