Volume Button Direcctly on Laptop

Hey guys,

I can't seem to get my Mute/Volume-UP/DOWN controls to work on my laptop. I have all the correct drivers installed as far as HP was concerned. When I press any of the 3 buttons the computer basically freezes up to the point when I can move the mouse around bt I can't click on anything. I can't close or open or anything else. Anyone else ever had this problem?
