johnabonzi1978 Posted February 1, 2008 Author Posted February 1, 2008 I want to check a large NTFS volume for errors. I have kicked off a chkdsk but its going to check quite sometime. I have read that vrfydsk gives a more detailed report on the problems on volume. The problem is my volume is larger than 10TB.If anybody has any ideas it would be most appreciated! Many Thanks
cluberti Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 You might as well go on vacation, that 10TB volume will take at least a week to chkdsk. Why do you have a volume that large anyway - you would be FAR better served by using mount points on a smaller volume to make up the 10TB (in terms of disk defragmentation time/speed/effectiveness, chkdsk speed/effectiveness, etc).
