chilling Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Outlook is spinning it's wheels trying to send messages I haven't initiated whcih I can't find meanwhile I can't receive messagesI have switched to outlook express with no problems but would like my outlook back and all it's settings etc.
DonDamm Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Sorry, but it sounds like you've picked up a trojan or virus which wants to use your account to send spam or report back home with information it's found. You'll need to do a full scan with something like Spyware Doctor or Spy Sweeper. You can get a free version of Spyware Doctor from Google Pack. Just uncheck eveything but Spyware Doctor and you've got it.Also, temporarily disconnect your internet connection, open Outlook and look in the Outbox and see what's there, if anything.If it were me, I'd just do a reinstall so I'd be sure nothing was lurking like a rootkit. Then I'd make a complete image of the system which can be restored in ten miniutes - much less time than any scan and more secure.
