Kevin Yeandel Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Dear all,http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7176625.stmIf MS acquire a company that produces a package that is used by customers on Unix platforms will this be the first time MS have supported and continue to support those users who are required to run it on Unix? The FAST Instream product is deeply embedded in a multi-platform product called Documentum (EMC). Many of the customers use this on Unix with the FAST search engine also on Unix. EMC do not have a statement and Microsoft don't seem to have any information to offer. There does seem to be a few EMC customers that are less than happy about the acquisition and if MS stop supporting FAST on Unix then it means $millions in changes to implementing alternative search engines and or hardware.Any thoughts? (other than jokes about should be running everything off Windows because I think I've heard em and platforms are not a matter of choice in many case). Many thanksKevin
