Single Domain Controller Environment

I have a single server environment.... running the server as a domain controller..... I have changed the default group policy to modify the password restrictions. I can't seem to get the dc to update itself with the new policy. I know I have run across this problem before, but I can't remember wht I did to fix the problem. The server is running 2003 R2 and will have about 25 computers and about 150 accounts on it. The server is used for a school computer lab. Any ideas??

Yes, but the policy is not replicating to itself. IE... i made the change, waited for a while (now been three days) and the policy hasn't changed.... if I try to create a new user and put in the default password, I get the error saying that it doesn't match the group policy in place... meaning, that the policy I set has not replicated to itself.
