More Nero Help!

Using a purchased and registered version of Nero 8 and trying to convert and burn avi to DVD. Though when I try to access the file I wish to convert, Nero will not find it on the computer even with the search option and will not allow me to drag and drop. I have tried moving files to a folder Nero automatically detects without too much digging and it still will not recognize the files. Is it an issue with the file itself? nero's security settings, or is it having run ins with the Norton program which I have heard causes issues with nero... please help! Asap! This is driving me crazy~!!!!
