[Win XP] Registry key updates with new WUA on XP

Hi ,

Microsoft Windows (OS) is changing drastically from Vista. They are bringing in powerful UAC and Windows update mechanism (its good).

With windows vista all the patches/hot-fixes will be managed by WUA(Windows Update Agent).

Also the registry key management is changing. No registry key/s will be updated or added for any new patches installed (correct me if i am wrong).

Thanks God. They(MS) is providing api to check for hot-fixes and patches.

However the b/sad news; they are enforcing WUA(vista style) mechanism for XP and 2K. In 2K/XP every patch installed has a corresponding registry key.

My query;

With this new mechanism applied to XP/2K will it stop adding/updating registry entry for new hot-fix/patches.

Please respond asap.

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

~Nazir
