chilio Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 (edited) Building quite simple system I've encountered following problem. It doesn't fit the posts I've found on the net so I decided to post it.My PC config.ASUS COMMANDO (Intel 965, ICH8), Intel x6800, 2GB RAM Corsair 800 Mhz (3-4-3-9), gforce 8800 GTS, Adaptec 1430 (4xSATA PCIe x4)DISK DRIVES:RAID O (ICH8) - 2x WD Raptor 2 x36 GBRAID 5 (ICH8) - 4x Samsung 300 GB HD 321KJRAID 0 (adaptec 1430) - 2 x WD Raptor x 150 GBSystem is runnig stable with all drives installed under win xp 32 bit (just to make sure bios config is fine)While installing Vista x64, the system behaves normally. However while setting the destination you need to load additional drivers from adaptec. In my case I wanted to install vista on the second raid 0. Of course Vista recognized the controller on the mobo, so the other drives (conected to ICH8) were also recognized.Installation finished without errors. After loading the system vista somehow failed loading driver for ICH8 and therefore alll drives conected to the mobo became inaccessible.Under Device Management you have one unrecognized device (ICH8 indeed). Reinstalling driver fails due to unknown parameter conflict.Interesting is that starting vista with recovery options, again load the ICH 8 driver correctly with drives accessible (only conected to ICH8 of course). However there is no possibility to load the adaptec driver. So again it's not posssible to repair the installation.I will try to hunt the problem down, starting from mobo BIOS update (currently 1501), adaptec controller BIOS update.I use Vista Ultimate x64 - polish version, all updates installedI will post the results. If anybody knows the solution please let me know. Just to save some time. Edited November 16, 2007 by chilio
chilio Posted November 23, 2007 Author Posted November 23, 2007 I've update mobo bios, controller bios, reinstalled vista. Problem still exist and nothing changed.I've contacted Intel. They of course pushed me to the system vendor -> MS - > so that's will be more or less it.I will also wait for the response from adaptec, but I suppose they will give me answer similar to that one from Intel.I am trying of course also to contact MS but everybody knows how it is. Especially when I have OEM system version So if anybody has a clue PLEASE HELP....
