Changing DNSQueryTimeouts on Windows 2003 domain controllers

My organisation have been trying to solve a major issue regarding the spanning tree protcol of switches(cisco in our case) and Windows 2003 . What happend was that we got event 5719 Netlogon failure on boot, and no group policy was run. The only way we have found to get around this was to change the DNSQueryTimeouts from the default 1 2 2 4 8 0 values to 1 2 18 25 25 0.

Now here is my question. Does anybody know the effect of changing DNSQueryTimeouts on a domaincontroller?
