How to generate arbitrary SNMP traps

Wanted to get your feedback/suggestions on how to generate arbitrary SNMP traps for our monitoring server. I am new to SNMP so I would like to expand my knowledge on this area.

Is it a good way of setting up or is there a more efficent way of setting up?
