:hello: Hi All,

New to this site, fairly new to complex IT issues and have a few questions.

We have a 48 Port Cisco Gigabit switch for our servers (10 in all). All the servers have single or dual gigabit on them.

So the first question is, I only seem to get about 25% network utilization copying from large files from 1 server to the other. Sometimes it bursts to 50% and immediatly falls... Freqently see things hovinger around 12.5%. I've done the TCPIP Paramaters Reg tweak, which helped it burst, but didn't really improve overal performance. Anything else I can do to help things along?

Getting full Gig between the server will probably take care of most things... I do have 2 particular servers with Dual Gig NICs that could use more speed. Is it possible to connect both NICs to the cisco switch and basically get a 2 gig connection to the switch? I've been playing with it, turned on trunking for those 2 ports and bridged the connections in windows... Really not sure if its working tho, the 2nd server is an application server with about 40-70 people logged in via remote desktop... I'll have to come in on Sunday to play with it and see what kinda of speed I get between the 2. Am I taking the right approach? There seems to be alot of terms that all amount up to the same idea, but not too much clear documentation out there.

We're actually moving all our servers from 1 old rack into 2 newer racks this weekend. Also going live with a Dell PE6800, which will be our new SQL server. So any info between now and sunday would be a great help!

Thanks all,

Mike
