MDOC Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 (edited) On the VCP homepage: http://www.jtow.net/users/triess/...are two versions: 4.5.0 (VCP) and 1.3.0 (Vista Codec x64 Components)I have Ultimate x64; the question is do I need VCP 4.5.0 and the 1.3.0 x64 components as well, or just the x64 components, or what? Not clear what should be installed for a x64 machine with Ultimate x64 OS.And another question is how do you remove (uninstall) the current codecs I have now before I install VCP? I am attempting to fix this problem exhibited here:Below is normal, from WMV file. This is from an MPG file. Not normal. The circled are MS default dreamscene files and these are MPG files. The rest are OK and are WMV files.Edited to add this:This is the current list of codecs from WMP:A section of above made larger: Edited September 25, 2007 by MDOC
anonymous_user Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 If you want to use the x64 package (for WMP11 64-bit), you must install VCP first. If youre just gonna use a 32-bit player just install VCP.As for the WMP codecs, you can leave them. Just make sure you dont have another codec pack like K-Lite or CCCP. If you dont see them in add/remove programs you are probably fine.

Installed both, but this didn't fix the above-noted problem, contrary to someone's post about it as a fix for it on another board. (I thought so)Edited to add:Codecs from x64 WMP: Edited September 25, 2007 by MDOC
