How can what Windows Registry keys and values are checked by an installer at running or slightly after running an installer be determined?

I assume you mean how can you see what regoistry keys are added or modigied by an installer. Use a program like InstallRite, InstallWatch or the monitoring facility in the installers programs (Installshield and other installers allow you top monitor an install so you can repackage it)

RegShot, which is a simple to use, freeware tool, can monitor the Registry for you and will report changed keys and values.
