KB didn't fix Stop 0x9f

I've been getting a Stop 0x9f, and it's messing with my EngergyStar compliance. I didn't want the energy police to come and get me , so I installed MS' suggested fix of KB929762, however that didn't fix anything.

Makes sense since since I don't have any attached firewire devices, just an external USB drive (which isn't always connected when the BSOD occurs)

Now I'm less worried about the energy police and just want Vista to stop giving me the BSOD.

Interestingly, but not pleasantly, the BSODs are NOT being reported to MS by Vista. Gonner have to find the patch that made BSODs stop getting reported.

Windows Vista Home Premium on an HP DV9235NR (Centrino Duo) laptop with dual internal drives, patched to whatever MS Update thinks is the latest.

If you could, create a complete memory dump the next time it occurs, and then zip or rar it up and place it somewhere we can get to it to analyze the 9f's.

Sure can try, but the BSOD doesn't respond to ctrl-alt-del, so I'm not optimistic that ctrl-scrllock will be effective.

Just to be clear, I was being snarky about the energy-star compliance - the machine doens't go to sleep when it's in BSOD mode, sometimes for the better part of a night.

you won't need to use the keyboard, the stop 9f should generate the memory.dmp file all on it's own. No worries there, just see if you can get that file placed somewhere once it's compressed.
