Stefan S. Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Hi,I'm using WebDAV to copy files over the network. In the last days I have copied several thousand files with WebDAV and Vista. But now I have a problem. I can't copy a file folder with Vista. Windows Vista Explorer returns error 0x80070057. In this folder are 8 files (different sizes and file types). I tried to copy the files and then to move it to the network. I also tried to zip them and unzip them on the remote host. It was possible to move the zip package, but when I tried to unzip the files it failed again with the same error. There are some other files which are not movable. It is very bogus. The files are different. Different types, different sizes and different creation dates. All files are writeable and all files are not protected by UAC. I don't know what the problem is. It is a very strange bug. The bug is present in every WebDAV client I used. It must be a problem with Windows Vista.
cluberti Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 That's actually a Win32 error for "Invalid Argument". Have you tried copying the files in safe mode w/ networking?

cluberti Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 The same way you do in regular mode - safe mode with networking should work the same in this regard. If you try it and it works, let us know.

It was my Kaspersky 7 which caused this strange problem. Pretty unbeliebable, but Kaspersky was filtering this folder and files because of the integrated Adblocker. No warning from Kaspersky... nothing. Only the error from Vista explorer.I don't know why Kaspersky blocks specific files which I copy from my computer to another computer. The WebDAV client had all permissions in the firewall. The files were located in a folder named "banner". So Kaspersky decided to block the whole copy and blocked the windows copy process. Pretty unbelievable!

Pretty unbelievable! Not really, honestly - that's why I wanted you to try safe mode (Kapersky wouldn't have been loaded, as would a few other things). Any application that uses a kernel filter driver for I/O, like most antivirus applications, have the potential to do any number of bad things to I/O requests.
