Vista error message at startup

I have a problem I can't find an answer to. I have Windows Vista Ultimate, I believe after I ran the Windows Cleanup tool on my C:\ drive I don't rember all the options I selected, when I tried to restart Windows It fails, with an error message saying "Boot Critical File c:\windows\system32\drivers\intelide.sys is corrupt" and a message to boot from the install disk and do a repair. My ystem is DIY, Asus P5B Premium Vista Edition motherboard, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.40GHz cpu, 2048MD DDR2 800MHz ram, Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB Serial ATA-300 Hard Drive. OK so I tried booting off the Vista install dvd and select the "Repair Automtically" option and get the message after it tries "Windows cannot Repair this computer automatically" It seems to me a simple replace of the corruptfile intelide.sys file should not be so hard? I then tried to select start from a restore point but there where none, and last known success full startup option this fails. Now I have a system with important files on it and know way to repair it, or access it, I can't believe some thing that is not that "messed up" to me I can't find a solution to. I tried for a week now, any Ideas or suggestions are much needed. Thanks Ralph
