Has anyone else ever experienced this task switching bug?

I've used 32-bit XP Pro pretty much since it was released and I don't remember having this issue. However, everytime I decide to instal XP 64-bit, I end up getting irritated and reformatting because of this odd task switching bug I get. Once I have a few (5-6 or more) apps running, I notice that sometimes when I click an item in the taskbar to bring it back up a different program jumps up in front of it. The item I click comes up, but then a different app jumps up too. I don't get it. Has anyone ever seen this happen?

Yup I know what you are talking about as I have had it well. Also like you I had no remembered it until probably the last 6 months or so of XP32 usage. I would usually just use the button on the taskbar to innitiate a max or min command on that window and it would be alright until it eventually happened again. I have just installed XP64 here over the last week tho and after some tweaking and playing and getting most of my stuff setup again I have not yet experienced it (knock on wood).

It was one of those things that was annoying but not quite a big enough annoyance to research it and see what might have been causing it. I waste enough time fixing issues that I don't know a quick work around.

You might get more input on the matter in the XP x86 forum however...

I've seen it when you have task manager running minimized in the taskbar or the notification area, and the task manager is set to "always on top". It's wierd, but I found that after I cleared "always on top" in task manager, the problem never recurred.
