defaulting to right justify when creating new e-mail

I am trying to help someone who uses Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 for her e-mails. Each time she starts a new e-mail, the cursor appears on the far right at the top of the page, and right justify is selected. I have looked through the variouls options and other settings, as well as in this and other forums, but cannot find where to set this so that left justify is the default. When she clicks on the left justify icon in the toolbar, it asks her to change to HTML format. But this is already set as the default. I am guessing that his is simple, but I can't figure it out, as I do not use Outlook for e-mail. Any help?
