windows xp user accounts

Featured Replies

Hi all, I need your help. When I start my computer, one of the user accounts has dissappeared. The problem with this is that the account contains family photo's of my kids. My wife is very unhappy with me!! Could you please help me find this account. Thanks

Is the account disabled?

Right click My Computer > manage > Local Users and Groups > users > double click user > uncheck disable

If it was the administrator account that has become hidden, press alt + ctrl + del twice and you can manually log in as administrator from there, or follow this guide: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2006/05/07/u...-in-windows-xp/

Thanks m8rk, unfortunately it didnt work. When I did the first bit, Local users and groups didnt come up. Where do I press adl ctrl del. I tried it from here and it didnt work. Sorry for the trouble, but any other suggestions? Thanks again

alt + ctrl + del only works from the login screen ...if it's XP Pro. If it's XP Home you only get to log in as administrator from safe mode.

sorry mate, Im a bit slow, but learning. It worked!! The only problem is that the user icon still does not appear on the login page. Everything else is the same. What would you suggest?

Control Panel > User Accounts > click on the user to modify > change the picture
