Missing Sent Messages

Just recently, messages that I have sent have not been saved in my "Sent" folder. I have done the following troubleshooting:

• n advanced e-mail options ensured that "save messages" is checked, (nothing)
  
• have unchecked and re-checked "save messages",....and applied,.....(nothing)
  
• have used
  

the "repair tool",....(nothing)

Another forum suggested a fix for OE,...which requires creating a new "sent" folder,.....but just wondering if you folks have any ideas.
