startup and shutdown sounds

I downloaded a file containing some XP speed tweaks...I think it changed the startup and shutdown reg. entries because they will not play anymore...they will in sounds & audio devices in control panel, but not during startup or shutdown... does anyone know how to fix this in the registry??

Check this:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\CONTROL PANEL\SOUND\BEEP, if data is '0', change to '1'.
