Office 2003 Splash Screens Change

I'm running a dual-boot system with Windows XP Pro SP2 and Windows Vista Ultimate x64. I have the same copy of Office 2003 Professional installed under each OS. Up until today, whenever I launched any of the Office programs under either OS, I would see a splash screen like the first screenshot attached to this post.

For some reason yet unexplained, and with no updates having been installed or changes of any kind made, the Office splash screens now look like the second screenshot attached to this post - but only in Vista. In XP the old splash screens still prevail. However, as I said before, up until today the splash screens were identical under both OSs.

This is a very minor thing but its got me really curious. Where did this alternate splash screen come from and why did it suddenly start displaying like this? I've never seen it before.
