Shhmikey Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Hi. I am running Windows Server 2003 SP2 with IIS 6.0 installed. I have been able to set up internet printing successfully. Printing over the internet is no problem. My question is, how can I Fax over the internet to the server. When I share the Fax over the local network, this works fine. I see the fax received in the Fax Console. When I try to send a Fax over the internet (same ways as Internet Printing, but with the shared Fax instead of a Printer), nothing happens. I don't see anything in the Fax Console.I ran a 'snoop' over the network and saw the packets going back and forth between computers (while doing Internet Printing with the Fax). The last packet said 'status-message..Client: (404) Not Possible.'To summarize, Internet Printing works. Fax Server works when sharing locally. Fax Server does not work over the internet.Hope I provided enough information about this problem. If not, let me know. Thanks in advance.-Shhmikey

Fax Server does not work over the internet. And unfortunately for you, fax services do not work over IPP like regular printers do. This is expected behavior, and you'll need a 3rd party product to provide this functionality. The fax driver in Windows doesn't support IPP faxing, even though it will show up as a printer when IPP is enabled.
