harrysgm
Dear All,We have around 100 Pc's to deliver and we are trying to follow the procedure for OEM activation 1.0 for windows XP , so that it will be activated automatically by checking the bios string. We did the following steps:1.Added the BIOS string in the BIOS (Intel DQ965GF m/B) and got the memory location of that string from intel.2.then made an oembios.ini file and we send it to Microsoft.3.Microsoft gave us the key and have send 4 OEM signed files.4.I created the OEM CD with winnt.sif in the I386 directory and copied the 4 oem signed files by Ms in the I386 directory and made the XP Cd.5.Installed the XP on the PC and it goes well and it seems the winnt.sif file answered all the questions.PROBLEM : IT STILL ASKS FOR ACTIVATION.I dont know what exactly i am doing wrong.(How i created the Cd : copied the XP cd to a folder c:\root , then copied the 4 oem files in the i386 directory , and winnt.sif files in the i386 directory and then used the cdimagegui to make the ISO image and then used the nero to make CD from iso image.)Pls help me , its still not working and it took me so many days to do this but with no result.I am putting my winnt.sif file also..........................................;SetupMgrTag[Data] MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes"[unattended] UnattendMode=FullUnattended FileSystem=* OemPreinstall=Yes TargetPath=\WINDOWS[GuiUnattended] AdminPassword=* EncryptedAdminPassword=NO OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=130 OemSkipWelcome=1[userData] ProductKey="xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx" FullName="MOF" OrgName="MOF" ComputerName=MOF[RegionalSettings] LanguageGroup=4[identification] JoinWorkgroup=WORKGROUP[Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=Yes-------------------------------------------Thanking you in anticipationRegardsHarry
severach
Building a Pre-activated CD from an existing installationThis is how we make the disks for all the other brands. It should work exactly the same for yours. If you didn't get an overwrite prompt when copying then the files are named wrong or your folders are wrong. Perhaps Microsoft didn't send them back as compressed CAB files. These are the expected names of the file names on the CD.OEMBIOS.BI_OEMBIOS.CA_OEMBIOS.DA_OEMBIOS.SI_Once installed you should use a keyfinder and ensure that your key is the one running. You should also take CRC's of the installed OEMBIOS files and ensure that they match the files shipped.
Bezalel
Here are a few steps to try:Verify that your key is an OEM SLP Key (mgadiag)Verify that you have the correct OEMBIOS files (mgadiag, you will need to copy the results to the clipboard, this information isn't visible in the GUI)Verify that the bios contains the string in the correct location (debug)Verify that the adress ranges were submitted correctly (notepad)Verify that the files arn't corrupt (extract, hashcalc)
