Mystery flickering of desklets

I just did a complete rehaul of my desktop using AveDesk (for a Digital Clock desklet), Rainlendar (as a calendar desklet) and the latest ObjectDock (as my dock and taskbar replacement, I turned off the taskbar).

I then accessed a High-Definition Matroska recording using Media Player Classic (K-Lite Codec Pack component, using CoreAVC) and upon the starting of the video, all my dock, digital clock and rainlendar flickered. They flicker every now and again during playback, on resizing the video window etc. It also affects the running speed of the video and the video goes out of sync sometimes.

Is there a way to prevent this from happening?
