lost MSN desktop icon

I am a 70 year old new surfer on a steep learning curve my HDD gave up on me , I had to buy a new one.

having loaded all my software, I found I could not access my hot mail as I had no desktop icon to click on.

I did manage to retrieve my hotmail through my browser but cannot find a way to get the desktop icon back.

I thought if I updated to the latest msn that would fix it , but when I tried to install it, I had two error messages.

1. "the ordinal 730 could not be located in the dynamic link library SHELL32.dll.

2.bootstrap.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows.

I wonder if anyone could help a puzzled oldun.

Glad to see you on a computer!

What you could do is go to www.hotmail.com when you are there, go to the top bar->favorites->add favorite (you will see it is now in your favorites list and can access it that way) if you want it on your desktop.

Go to favorites,

right click on favorites->left click on copy,

close your web browser

Right click on your desktop and left click on paste!

It'll bring you right to hotmail so you can login
